Q & A how this could have been prevented.
There are quite a few different thoughts as to why this tragidy had taken place but still none our for certain. Some scholars are arguing that the incident was consequence of problems assoiated with economic changes during the soviet indutrialization. In this case one of the only ways that this could have been prevented purely relies on choices leader Joseph Stalin. It was up to him to do things differently for his people but he didn’t. Another thought why this might of happened is that the soviet leadership caused the famine to prevent Ukrainian Nationalism and again the only way to prevent this lies on the choices of those in charge. If the leaders had accepted the rise in Ukrainian Nationalism then the abuse and hardship would have been uneccassary. Its not quite certain the reasoning behind the Ukrainian Holodmor but no help could have been given from foreign aid either because of the great depression. Everyone in this time era was of misfortune.

Why: Stalin denied that there was a famine and refused to let foreign aid come in. He never admitted to creating a genocide so therefore we do not know his reasoning for ethnic cleansing against ukrainians.
How: There is not much that outsiders could do because stalin refused to allow foreign aid and claimed that there was no famine.

    Ukrainian Holodomor
Who: Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, Stalin
What: the causes of the holodomor is still a debatable topic. Stalin forces peasants/farmers to give up their land and join gov’t owned collective farms. Some scholars say it was a famine due to economic changes during the soviet industrialization period. Others say it was an attack on Ukrainian nationalism which would make this a genocide.
Where: Ukrainian SSR, Moldavian ASSR. Most affected areas were Kiev, Kharkiv Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Vinnytsya and Donetsk oblasts
    When: 1928 – 1933.
Why: Stalin denied that there was a famine and refused to let foreign aid come in. He never admitted to creating a genocide so therefore we do not know his reasoning for ethnic cleansing against ukrainians.
How: it could have been prevented by not having a psycopath as the dictator of one of the strongest countries in the world. There is not much that outsiders could do because stalin refused to allow foreign aid and claimed that there was no famine.
